The hotel was set in a central area close enough to The Hagley ' restaurant, establishment, and the metro stop into the city. The breakfast was warm and well presented with coloured water and toast, for example.
Flooded bathroom, and the breakfast was limited.

Comfy beds, coffee-making facilities, a kitchen area and a kettle in the room. Lovely building, good and fab location near Close to a shop and the staff, and separate areas...
Questionable area.

Good spot for concert-goers
We crashed here for a concert, and it was super handy! Got a decent room for £55 with parking, so that was a win. The bar meal was just okay, but the staff were cool and helped with taxis. Downside? The traffic noise was kinda annoying, especially at night. Otherwise, comfy bed and all the basics worked well.

It was quiet, the breakfast was good and the waiter friendly.
The first room had used sanitary towels (unwrapped) in bathroom cupboard. The next room the window catch was broken and the tv didn't work.Generally the hotel was very shabby with lots of peeling wallpaper, damp patches and the lift was grubby.Outside was litter strewn with cigarette ends/broken bricks.

The queen room we stayed in was neat and cheap. The employees were excellent and accommodating and kept it all clean. The property's location was marvellous, near to the center.

I realise know that the comfort and the state of the hotel is reflected with the rate that we paid to stay at the hotel. The staff were very friendly, the room was clean but very out dated. The television was too high on the wall to view with any comfort.

Chosen for location and for car-parking facilities and satisfactory on these two points.
A budget hotel and you get what you pay for. Plaster coming off the wall in several places in the corridor; broken light shade left on the bathroom window sill; felt like there were broken springs in the mattress; bedroom carpet marked and stained

Very little road noise due to double glazing, good quality towels
Wallpaper peeling off the walls, lift tempermental, carpet was worn out, dirty and with cigarette burns. Only one electricity plug in the corner of the room. Matress thin and very bumpy, tv remote stopped working, curtains hanging off. Cigarette burns on the walls and furniture

The Portland Hotel is beautifully decorated with a warm, inviting lounge that is very accessible for seniors. The staff was particularly attentive and helpful.
More variety in breakfast options would be appreciated.
